Since June is back to school month, our weekly themes for Girl’s Talk is as follows:
June 2 – Favorite Teacher
June 9 – Favorite Subject
June 16 – Most Hated Subject
June 23 – Class Picture
June 30 – Most Memorable High School Moment
My favorite teacher would be Ms. Candy Villar. She was my teacher in 2 or 3 Math subjects during my college days. I enjoyed studying Math in her class because she taught very clearly and knew how to make Math interesting! She also was easy to get along with. It is a pity I don’t have any photo with her.
I have another favorite… she is not really my teacher but she was one of the guidance counselors when I was in college. She was an inspiration to me. She was the guidance counselor of the Deaf students then and I was quite involved with the Deaf before. I learned the Filipino Sign Language under her term and I really learned so much about the Deaf culture. Aside from that, I understood that there is so much more to life and it is not always about “us” and what we perceive. Her name is Techie Benitez. She also became a mentor-friend until I graduated. I was so glad that we have kept in touch after college through emails and FB. She was even one of the people who encouraged me to pursue blogging!
Miss Techie is the fourth person from the left.. and did you find me on the photo? ![]()
The award I got was from CSB (College of St. Benilde) for helping out the Deaf Students.

You seem so happy on the picture…so cute! I miss my favorite teacher too…

MY ENTRY is up!
Sorry for the late visit and thanks for visiting my entry Chris.
Yes I’m half Chinese.
I’ve been around with the deaf as well since I studied in CSB. Glad you were able to help them. Math’s my favorite subject by the way. LOL!
Its nice to be able to locate your counsellor vis FB!
I’ve tried locating mine, but to no avail.
Anyway, i like your post.. It is so inspiring to know that there are people in Philippines who actually work to help the deaf study better. I hope they would implement these strongly over here in Malaysia!
